Haigaz Farajian’s deep Lebanese/Armenian familial and cultural roots tap into the great joy of creating and sharing amazing gastronomic delights together. From the time he was a young child in the kitchen at his mother’s side, Haigaz revealed his sense of adventure, soaring intelligence, playfully sophisticated palate, and slightly irreverent joie-de-vivre.
He grew to travel the world, speak four languages, and seek culturally-diverse gastronomic and culinary experiences. Influences of exotic flavors, textures, and scents––from ancient to modern, from far off lands to indigenous nations––captured his heart and expanded his imagination.
Haigaz found that creating with chocolate––that most exquisite delicacy––is the perfect artistic medium for his culinary creativity and talents. His flavor combinations, textures, and designs are a unique expression of chocolate that has been said to appeal to all the senses, evoke memories, and inspire dreams. For this he needs creative freedom.
He also found that sharing his chocolate creations gives him great joy. With this at heart, top quality chocolate sources provide the raw chocolate refined to his exacting specifications. Fruit and nut ingredients are procured through trusted relationships with local organic gardeners and farmers. Sugars, spices, and flavorings are homegrown and inspired by his seasonal Ojai garden or secured through renowned spice merchants from source countries. Using old world techniques in new ways, Haigaz creates extraordinary small-batches of flavor-rich confections that cause people to pause, close their eyes, and thoroughly savor. To give himself maximum creative freedom and flexibility he designed Yellow Cashmere’s 3-Month “Surprise Subscription” plan where a limited number of subscribers enjoy extraordinary chocolates regularly each month and become part of his process. He also offers BESPOKE JOY ASSORTMENTS so that you chocolate gourmands can order from three box configurations. Then Haigaz fills them with his freshest “chocolatier’s choice” assortment.
All Yellow Cashmere artisan chocolate confections are handmade in small batches in either our Ojai or Westside Los Angeles chocolate kitchens.
Why Yellow Cashmere?
It started years ago in Haigaz’s garden in Ojai, California. Instead of donning traditional workwear to tend to the garden, he opted to wear a luxurious yellow cashmere sweater. This bold and creatively irreverent move was noted, remarked upon, and was well remembered by all.
A few years later, when he fully committed to the world of chocolates, it was with the same bold creative “breaking of rules” and a sense of exclusive, soft luxury that inspire the originality of Yellow Cashmere exotic confections.
“Just like when you wore yellow cashmere for gardening” said his friends. And Yellow Cashmere was born.
